Cloud Effect LED Light Strip

A 10 metre colour-changing LED strip and a bag of cotton wadding, sold together so you can build a glowing cloud along a ceiling or across a wall. The strip does the light; the cotton does the shape. Stick the strip up, lay the clear non-stick tape over it, then press the cotton onto the tape while the strip is lit so you can see where the bare LEDs still show through.

It runs off USB, so a phone charger, a socket adapter or the back of a monitor will power it. Colour, brightness and speed are set from the 24-key remote or a phone app, and there is a sound-reactive mode that shifts the colour with whatever is playing in the room.

Two things worth saying plainly. This is a light strip and a bag of cotton, not a ready-made cloud — the cloud is something you build, and how good it looks depends on how much cotton you use and how patiently you pull it apart. And the manufacturer lists voice control among the features; we have not been able to verify that it takes spoken commands rather than simply reacting to sound, so we are only claiming the sound-reactive mode.
