Cordless Mushroom Table Lamp

A small metal dome on a slim stem, shaped like a mushroom cap and about the height of a paperback. There is no cord and no plug on it: the maker lists it as a rechargeable 5 V lamp with the battery built in, and no lead appears in any of its photographs.

One touch point sits on top of the shade. The maker's own panel says the lamp switches on and off there and steps through three light tones with dimming. Every photograph of it lit shows the same warm tone, so that is the only setting we have actually seen.

Size and finishes

• Shade 15.5 cm across, 21 cm tall overall, base 10 cm across — the maker's figures from its own size drawing
• 690 g, ships in a 21 x 20 x 8 cm box
• Iron shade, stem and base per the maker's spec sheet, in five finishes: gold, silver, black, red and white
• Built-in LED rated 0–5 W at 5 V by the maker

Worth knowing before you buy

• The maker gives no battery capacity and no runtime figure, so we cannot tell you how long one charge lasts.
• No charging lead is shown in any of the maker's photographs and the spec sheet does not list one, so do not count on one being in the box.
• It is a mood light, not a reading lamp. The maker's own brightness figure is 60–249 lumens, which is roughly a small candle bulb at its brightest.
