Floating Bulb Levitation Lamp
QAR 487,58Description
A filament-style bulb hanging in mid-air above a wood-grain base, held there by magnets and turning slowly on its own axis. Nothing touches it. The base is mains-powered and passes current across the gap, so the bulb lights while it floats.
Two base shapes: a round one with a shallow flying-saucer profile, and a flat square slab. The bulb is the same on both.
Size and power
- Bulb about 6 cm across and 11 cm tall; the round base about 15 cm across and 3 cm thick — these are the maker's figures from its own size drawing, which shows the round base only
- About 750 g in the box
- Mains powered. The adapter and lead are in the box — choose the plug that matches your sockets: EU, UK, US or AU
- The maker's detail panel shows a touch-control switch on the base and cooling holes underneath
- Ships as base, bulb, adapter lead and a printed sheet
Worth knowing before you buy
- The bulb is balanced, not clipped. It has to be set on the field by hand and it will come off if the base is knocked or moved while it is floating.
- A magnetic field this close to a desk is not the place for a watch, a card with a magnetic stripe, or anything else that dislikes magnets.
- The wood grain is a finish on the base, not solid timber, so the pattern varies between units.
